A humble, busy brunch spot with all the classics you can find on a brunch menu. The food is pretty standard, but I found their service exceptional - very friendly staff and willing to get you small modifications you request.

This place is very nice and clean. Seating is available inside and outside. Service is great and unbelievably fast, at least thats the way it was for me. Food was very good and portions are giant. Depending on the how big of an eater you are you should consider splitting portion Im going to people.

Where to begin, I usually like hole in the wall spots and definitely was not thrown off by the exterior. Service was ok, a little cramped for space which made eating a little less enjoyable, the food was not good at all. I thought I would give this place a try considering I always wondered what the breakfast menu was like. I disliked the bloody Marys so do not order those.. I ordered the omelette and the eggs were super fluffy and cheese was not melted it lacked flavor. The hashbrowns were not cooked and the toast was super hard. My friend ordered another omelette and was even fluffier than mine and with home potatoes which were red potatoes cut in half they were huge. It lacked flavor his toast was covered in butter. I think they need a revamp.. Coffee tasted watery and burnt. They definitely have a local following that are dedicated to them but for a total bill of 50 bucks for 2 people was not worth the breakfast menu. 2 omelettes 2 coffees and a bloody Mary I would have rather gone to the breakfast club. Sorry cafe San Jose you need to up your game. This local will not return.

Yet another restaurant in my back that has been in this location for at least 12 year and drive by it all the time but was clueless to its existence. Well not anymore. This cafe reminds me of a home style diner from the 70’s. The walls have old pictures of what San Jose use to look like, being a native of this area I was able to reminisce with wifey about a lot of them.We were greeted and sat at a cozy table then given a menu. The menu is huge, I ordered the Waffles with chicken fried steak and some Onion rings wifey ordered the nova Scotia Benedict.Never having had waffles and fried chicken before, I was pleasantly surprised how good they are “especially with lots of butter and syrup” the onions rings, hands down are right up there with the best I’ve ever had (whole onions, lightly crisp and no weird oil aftertaste) wifey did let me try her Benedict, with smoked Salmon and capers. 2 words.....oh snap!! (I’m coming back for that the next time around)

Had the special of half sandwich and Salad. A good size serving of salad and a delicious BLAT....very generous portions. Excellent service. Serving outside only. Oat my lort! So good! A little loud as it was packed. I had the redwood benny. Jen had the salad thing. Look at the picture. They will know. It was amazing. And the bacon. Mmmmmm

We came to visit San Jose for the weekend and we were looking for a good place to eat breakfast and we came across San Jose Café by far one of the best breakfast places I ever been to I highly recommend nice people good environment super hot steamy fresh food out of the oven.

Great food, friendly people. I enjoy having Brunch there or more recently taking it home.

Always a decent and large breakfast at San Jose Cafe. A solid standard - I like this place more than the Breakfast Club. Outdoor seating is very nice when weather permits. I recommend the scrambles and omelettes.

First time at this locals hang out. Food was delicious and plentiful. Staff went above and beyond to accommodate my celiac (gluten intolerance) without me having to say much at all.

Diner food. Big portions, friendly staff, lots of parking, and small neighborhood vibe. Wouldnt recommend for larger parties.

We had a great time at this restaurant. We enjoyed the nice ambience and the menu. The waiters are very friendly. I am content we ultimately managed to visit this spot.

Very nice breakfast and lunch spot. Its tucked away in an older little shopping center with a decent amount of free parking. It doesnt look like much from the outside but I came here to eat a good meal not to marvel at the architecture.My dog was with us and it was warm outside so I wanted him at least tied up just outside or on their patio where I could watch him.A super friendly waitress greeted us as soon as we approached the counter and told us we could sit anywhere so I asked if we could sit outside with my dog at least tied up nearby. My dog was welcomed with ice water and love just like the customers and sat under our table! The bus man even wanted to take his photo!I ordered a Breakfast Scramble special and my son a Breakfast burrito and food was served quickly, was hot and quite delicious! Good strong coffee was plentiful and we left satiated and please with the little gem in San Jose.

This menu is ridiculously huge! Everything looked wonderful but I felt like I was suffering from option overload. The food was very good and I want to try everything else on the menu. The staff was pleasantly kind but lacked in a few places though our waitress recognized the issues and apologized for it. Will definitely return!

I went to eat at Café San Jose this past Monday. The waitress who served us was very nice. This was my first time eating at Café S.J., I would recommend this place to anyone who visits California. The food was good and service was really great.

We have been here before. The food and service was usually good but this time, what a joke. This time we went there another couple. What a horrible experience. I ordered the Club sandwich with a fruit cup. The fruit was all dry on top like it had been open in the fridge for a long time. They asked if I wanted cottage cheese instead I said yes. Cottage cheese was also all dry on top. My Husband ordered an omelet with hash browns and got potatoes with grilled onions . Our friends ordered 1 order of scrambled eggs and pancakes to split between them. They were done eating before we even got our meals. We had to ask a couple different times for creamer and for to go containers. Our meals with 1 coffee and 1 iced tea came to $39.00 and their one breakfast between them came to $18.00. Service sucked big time. Could also use a really deep cleaning BATHROOM included. Because the staff all use this bathroom too. What a mess. Will not be going there again.
