Beautiful views, but the rotten seaweed smell is constant. Its really a shame the hotel doesnt remove the seaweed because the smell is overwhelming. The hotel is lovely, the views are amazing but the smell ruins all that.Take a walk on the beach and see all the beautiful views.

So first off, this place is not terrible. The room was about what I expected. It was a clean, decent size with a nice bathroom. The air conditioning took a while to kick in and the water took about 20 minutes to warm up but other than that no complaints about the room. The front desk likes to make upcharges for little things like not returning the pool towels to the front desk within 24 hours. But the thing that struck me most about this place was the horrible stench coming from the beach. The seagrass gives off a rotting smell year round that hits you immediately as you walk in the building. In the morning it seeps into the room waking you up from how bad it smells. There was no warning about this when booking the room and the view certainly does not make up for the smell. Its not as bad further down the beach so try getting a hotel further away from here if possible.

Resort-like without the $$$. Our room included a full-size refrigerator, stove, dinning table, and living room. The facility has two pools and very nice American or Belize breakfast with free water and coffee/tea (the creamer they had was delicious). Our room looked directly out to the beach/ocean (absolutely gorgeous) and there was daily room service. It is about one mile from center of town, but we enjoyed a stroll down the clean, public beach each morning and evening. (Also, for San Pedro/Belize in general buy bug spray if you will be out at dusk).

Horrendous, fleas in room, no wifi or internet. Main office closed at 5pm no one to contact. Beach smelled horribly, both pools dirty. Room smelled of mildew. Complaints were ignored, staff was rude. Checked in 18 July checked out 19 July staff refused to provide a receipt. We had no choice but to find other accommodations. We felt unsafe Two grandmothers, a mother and two small children we felt only option was to find other accommodations. With financial hardship we moved to Best Western Plus on mainland Belize. After many years using Expedia we were quite disappointed. We had to contact our families in USA in order to find other accommodations which had been done by texting.

We had such a great time and enjoyed our stay at Bananas very much! There is nothing better than Marlon serving Belikins and making rum punch and margaritas at the Wind Tunnel Bar happy hour! (If you go, youll know why I call it that.) The staff was great, always cheerful, and very responsive to our requests. The food at El Divino was very good, if a little pricey. Breakfast is included with 6-7 different selections and was perfect for us... the fresh fruit was wonderful! The staff at Monkey Business Tours were so accommodating and willing to do whatever they could to make our trip everything we imagined it would be. The grounds are lovely, the beach area is beautiful (and the fact they have a seawall is a pro as it keeps the beach clean of most of the sea grass that washes up on the other beaches nearby), and the fact that the tour boats pick you up right from dock at the beach is so convenient. The only negatives, if there were any, were that the decking by one of the pools could use replacing, and the tiles in the bath tub area in our room could stand re-grouting. Banana Beach is a small resort, very intimate, and its easy to get to know the staff and other guests... youre not just another face. All in all, we had a super vacation and would definitely stay at Bananas again!

All staff were very accommodating. Our experiences at check-in, restaurant, room cleaning, beach bar, security, check-out were above our expectations. Beds were comfortable, shower was adequate with hot water and good pressure. Hotel is in a great location with a great beach and two swimming pools.Miguel in the restaurant was outstanding, Lupe carrying our bags, Idir & Otmar were fun bartenders & Ruby & Tristen were always there to set up golf carts or activities. The freecontinental breakfast from 6 to 11 was enormous with ham & eggs, fruit, homemade toast & coffee & juice.I cant think of abetter place to stay. Also there is a very comfortable sports bar area off the restaurant & bar with comfy couches to watch your favorite team. Watching the NFL playoffs there was the best.

I didnt like that the breakfast time was to late.many people leave early to catch the water taxi and the breakfast is to late then.only 1 cup of coffee included. The ocean wasnt unable because of tons of seagrass it smelled like hell but actually this is not the hotels fault.location is not very good. To far away from the town.the room was very big, good aircon. Unfortunately the beds wear super old and they looked like they are many maMany years only.

Banana Beach Hotel is located on the south end of the island, very close to the dive shop Belize Pro Divers, which is excellent. If you are diving, this dive shop will pick you up on the dock at the hotel and it is a short boat ride to the reefs. As far as Belize prices, this hotel is moderately priced. Staff is friendly. The veranda balcony rooms are of okay size, but if there are 2 people in the room, there is not enough storage space. The rod for hanging clothes is about 24 inches long, there are 3 small drawers to put clothes in. I stayed by myself, so it was manageable, but with 2 people, there is not any room to put clothes/suitcases away. Some rooms have a king bed with a twin bed. My friends used the twin bed to put clothes on. There is no place to put suitcases. The ocean front suites are spacious with a beautiful view.

It is a 3star place...no frills, no luxe. But it did the job...we slept, showered, enjoyed our free breakfast. The bedding and decor is outdated, but suitable. One queen bed and twin bed in the bedroom in the style we booked, along with a couch, table, kitchen in the living area. One very important thing: the water pressure in the showers has GREAT PRESSURE AND can be adjusted for temperature. This was surprising. Most of the Caribbean countries tend to have showers with extremely low water pressure or it is either too cold or scalding hot...no complaints! So they get 5 stars there. The doors look like they arent secure, so we were a little worried that anyone could bust them open, but no one did...even if they had, theres a safe for valuables. This location doesnt really have much of a beach for swimming, but there is a beach for chilling. It is located south of the main areas of town, but only a 5USD cab ride away. I thought it was well worth the value for a short, one-night stay. I would stay here again.

The seagrass on the shore was so thick and intense across the island but right in front of the hotel it was piled for several days and the smell penetrated everything. Although the view was perfect from our room there was no way to listen to the waves or open the doors because of the intense smell, It seemed to be more cleaning efforts just next door and own the beach. The staff are very friendly and engaging, Lupe is the best and such a hardworker and so very friendly. The massage was the best I have had ever had (and I had 3 on just this trip). The plants and grounds are beautiful and the pools are welcoming and offer the perfect shade and sun options any time of the day. The restaurant is one of the best....The island has changed tremendously is the past 10 years and Banana Beach remains a great location and good value, we just wish we could enjoy our veranda.

The entire staff was outstanding. The people in the restaurant treated us like old friends. The rooms were just average but very clean. The biggest problem we had was the smell from all of the sargassum (sea weed) that lined the shores. This problem wasn’t just at this resort, but some had done a better job of keeping it cleaned up. We couldn’t sit on the beach because of the smell.

This place wasnt bad but also wasnt great. My family and I stayed at the Banana Beach Resort in July of 2019. The photos look better than the actual place looks in person. The smell was horrendous, but we expected it as it was offseason. Although I noticed the resorts next to us took care to keep their part of the beach clean, our resort didnt care about keeping it clean. One of the perks of choosing this place was that it was in our price range, but also that it had wifi. Well, the wifi part is a total lie. The only way you can get any wifi was if you went into the restaurant that is part of the hotel. We questioned the hotel about the offered service, but she says to get it through two of the room numbers listed on wifi. That did not work because as soon as we tried to connect, the wifi would drop out. Normally, I wouldnt mind not having wifi, but when its time for chill-out time with the family, its wind-down time for the next day. The rooms were ehh. There was a distinct smell and so I had to purchase smell-good for the room. Overall, it was clean. Belize, as always, is amazing. But personally, I would not be staying at Banana Beach Resort again.

Abergris Caye had a huge issue with the sea grass piling up on the beach and rotting this visit. It was not the resorts fault, however you could not go for a swim in the ocean. During our stay they were gradually cleaning it up. The resort itself for the price is nice, its clean and has the basics for a good price. The mattresses were very hard, but looked replaced recently. It however is aging and has very basic rooms, there was a small fridge in our room which was appreciated and the air conditioning looks upgraded, and worked fine. Breakfast is included, however it is the same day after day, so if you want variety, there is only so many ways you can get your eggs done. El Divonos (their restaurant) has excellent food, but its very pricey. In fact a lot of San Pedro has gotten very pricey, so shop around for if you want cheaper prices. Internet is spotty. It is unsecure and constantly going up and down.

If you like laying on the beach, the location of this hotel is wonderful. No matter which room you are in, the beach is literally steps away with white sand and such beautiful colors of blue water. The rooms were not that impressive but we only needed the room for sleeping and showering, so they were fine for one week. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Its a little far from town so you might need to rent a golf cart. There is a restaurant and bar at the hotel, and there are several other places close enough to eat if you dont mind a 15 or 20 minute walk, which is actually good for you, or you can call a taxi. The only really negative thing was that we ordered several drinks at the beach and at the end of the day were charged for an extra shot of alcohol that we were told was put in each drink. We didnt ask for the extra shot and dont really know if it was put in the drinks or not. If we had been asked beforehand, we would have ordered the extra shot, but doing it without asking us was not a good thing to do. If we go back, we will ask exactly how much the cost of each drink is before ordering.

I would say the hotel isn’t exactly as seen in the photos, a little bit older in condition which was a little disappointing. The very friendly and accommodating receptionist made up for this small factor. We received a welcome drink we could redeem from the bar and were told we had a selection of complimentary breakfast to choose from. We had the Belizean breakfast at el divinio that they even served to us after they closed for service (we were late) and it was amazing! Unfortunately there is not a lot to do around this location but great for families who want to be away from business of downtown.

This place is run down. One day upon returning from a snorkeling trip, we discovered that the maid forgot to place any towels in the bathroom, so we had to wait to take a shower until they brought them to us-that is a VERY basic service and cant believe it was overlooked. Also, upon returning from another activity, my husbands C-pap hose was on the floor. This is a medical devise he uses to breath from and when he called to complain, the manager brought a security guard with him to our room to hear what my husband had to say about how this should be treated-not just for us but for other guests who may also use this type of devise. There was no explanation of the property and its amenities. The pool was not heated and what I thought was a hot tub/spa within the pool was not hot, but was actually a cold whirpool within the pool. It would have been nice to have been told about it at check-in, but instead read about it in the book about the hotel in the room.I rate this place very low, because the receptionist was impersonal and not welcoming, the maids seemed confused about how many and what type of towels to place in the bathroom, to the aging furniture, faded chaise cushions and drawers that would not open. Also, our suite had a view of the wall next door through worn frosted-over windows. There are better places to stay. The restaurant El Divino was good.
