We enjoyed our lunch at Talisay in Maginhawa. Food was delicious. Staff were polite & attentive. One side of the resto has a glass wall overlooking the garden which gave the resto its tropical, bringing the outside garden in atmosphere. We ordered Paella Mixta, Lengua, Chicken Pyanggang (black curry), Tortang Talong, Grilled Tuna Belly, Clam Chowder, Goats Cheese Salad, Creme Brulee Cake. The best ones for us are the Lengua, Grilled Tuna, Salad, Paella & cake. Its great that theyre also serving pure Arabica coffee. Id suggest you plan what to order in advance. It takes a while for the orders to be served. For those who are mindful of their salt intake, ask them to adjust the salt in the soup & paella. An order is good for one or 2. For a group like ours we doubled most dishes ordered. The acoustics though can be improved. In a table of 8 adults, we could barely hear the other side because of the noise from other tables of people talking, utensils & music. The restaurant was full by noon, so reserve a table & come early. Average cost per person was at P750.

The steak we ordered was bland and literally had no taste hence we asked for soy sauce. The rice was served after 20 mins and only took them 2 mins to hand the bill. At least the rustic tables were nice.

First lunch.A different approach to fusion food creations with their signature dishes as well as those for the other regions.Notable & surprisingly very tasty was the Palabok infused with black squid ink.Of course we tested out the usual salads & different meats - beef, pork, chicken etc - with moms cooking as the ultimate gauge.Whenever her eyes lit up& that smile appearswhen trying new versions, that was our hint of approval.Unusually shaped utensils, though the plates were definitely the cafes home-made product & we forgot to inquire if they were selling these and other items.Perhaps next time they wouldve updated their menu to include meal photos. All food orders seemed geared for 2-3 person sharing.Understandable also for the CASH only mode of payment. The place is just starting to stretch its culinary legs amongst Maginhawa Streets food establishments.Next time, Talisay.

Very good food. High end price. Some guests behaved so privileged and loud. Not for cozy dinner.

Food is excellent. Parking may be a challenge esp since it is located along a Mabuhay Lane road

I admit. It’s my fault. I expected too much only to be disappointed. Massively. On our entrance to the café, a server had a major accident which resulted to shattered glasses on the floor. Was it a sign for a not-so-pretty-night?But still we proceeded. We ordered for Molo Soup (P240) which was on the bland side. The Talisay Garden Salad (P390) was a colorful salad and nothing but. By nothing I mean nothing was exciting about it except for the fact that the vegetables were fresh. Period. We were initially excited for the Paella Mixta after having two courses that, well, just passable. Then, it was served after a few minutes. Then, we were disheartened. We mixed it trying to look for socarrat (scorched rice). There’s none. Zero. Nada. Question: How can genuine paella not have scorched rice at the bottom of the pan? Not unless...We just relied on the Beef Salpicao (P580) to save the night. Good thing that it was more than passable, it was flavored right (tendency to be a tad salty). One upsetting thing though, the beef was leathery. So generally, the salpicao was not enough to save whatever was left of the night.Still, we hoped for a savior. And that night, the Palabok Negra and Lumpia Fresca were it. Both dishes tasted well especially the palabok which was fun to eat not to mention unforgettable. Why unforgettable? Go and try it (tip: bring your own wipes it can prove to be very useful). And finally, dessert. The Talisay Cassava Cheese Cake was the perfect piece to close the, not-so-perfect –birthday-dinner. Oh yes… we were given a slice of some cake to make up for a booboo they committed of which I choose not to discuss it anymore. Too stressful.Oh, the service? Great setting, attentive staff, and a nice garden for kids to run around in. Some filipino fusion places miss the mark, but this place hits the bullseye. We tried about 5-6 different dishes and everything was great (I wasnt a fan of the palabok negra, but my family loved it). Definitely check this place out
