金曜日の礼拝を行うイスラム教のモスク。1424年にグジャラート・スルターン朝のアフマド・シャー1世 により、国内最大のモスクとして建設されました。大きな広場とそれを囲む回廊とホールからなり、ホールには5つのミフラーブ、15個のドーム、260本の柱があります。意外に細い柱のためか、規模のわりに軽やかな印象を受ける建物です。旧市街のメインストリートから一歩入ったところにあり、喧騒から静寂へと雰囲気が切り替わるのが見どころだと思います。
