I visited Nami for the first time on Saturday night (July 17th) and I was absolutely pleased with the service. The staff was very friendly and accommodating for our entire stay at the restaurant. I enjoyed the smoked salmon and miso soup I ordered, but what I really loved was the ambience and jazz music that set the mood. I have a feeling this may become one of my favourite places in Toronto and I will definitely be visiting again.
Food was amazing and the service was very good too.
The Sushi Roll, Sashimi, and Maki are super fresh and tasty!!!! Even the wasabi (homemade one) tastes so good!!!If you are a sashimi lover, Chef’s Selection is strongly recommended! You will not regret to try it.The environment is good and clean, but is a little bit crowdy in Saturday night. Every waiter and waitress is so busy, sometimes they might forget to add water or tea for you.Don’t forget to make a reservation before you go to this place. It cost us around $350 (tax and tips are included) for 3 ppl. However, if you don’t order too much sashimi, it should be around $50-$60 a person.
We came as a party of two on a Friday with reservations. The restaurant was about half full when we arrived at 6:30.The decor is very authentic, with waitresses wearing kimonos and Japanese decor everywhere. It was a pretty nice touch that stood out.I found the food to be very underwhelming for the price point. We got the sashimi combo, toro sashimi, negi-toro roll, and the spider roll. We also got some authentic ground wasabi root, which cost a lot for a tiny amount and didnt really stand out as hugely unique from the horseradish blend that they usually pass off as wasabi. The highlight of the meal, for me, was the spider roll. It had a nice texture, and the Japanese mayo really added a depth of flavour that this roll typically doesnt have at other restaurants. The sashimi was comparable to much cheaper places, but at a much higher price point. While it wasnt bad, it wasnt amazing.Service was also incredibly slow here, and it took a full forty minutes to receive anything outside of tea.I would likely not come back here. The novelty of the decor and kimonos wears off pretty quick, and then youre just in an overpriced mid-tier sushi restaurant. Id suggest Jabistro for higher quality of food at a similar price point.
I am so sad to share this review - I ate here last year - and many times in the past. We ordered in for a special night today - 300 bucks worth actually..it was sooooo shockingly disappointing. Dont buy their platter or their premium dishes - the 58 dollar Bara Chirashi - omg it was so bad. Scraps of fish - literal scraps. The miso - tiny and poor flavour. Udon - the beef was literally in-edible - leather shoe like. We picked up - instead of imposing the fees of a delivery service - they charged us the same - and I would never ever order again. Our favourite dish use to be the rice paper sushi rolls - they were inedible - just rice - nothing else in there. The grilled chicken with salt :( dead dry. The spinach side dish - wooden and just such a waste of money - so so sad. Never again - not us.
Good food.Nothing impressive.Below average service or ambiance.
Amazing food! The staff were the most hospitable and kindest I have ever experienced. Really thankful to have had the pleasure to visit this restaruant. They make one heck of a mean Unagi Don ! Doumo Arigatogozaimasu!
Ordered a premium bara chirashi. Got food poisoned.
A great hidden gem on Adelaide East. Make sure to speak with Master Reo for the sake tasting and try their amazing fresh sashimi assortment.
An experience like no other. This is isnt just some japanese restaurant, this is a restaurant that encompasses every part of Japanese culture until the last detail and because of that their food, service, staff, and drinks are to the highest level of quality. We had their 8 course Omakase meal and it was one of the most incredible meals we have ever had. The wagyu beef alone was so mouth-watering we tried to slow down time so the taste wouldnt go away.
Still dreaming about the food here
I eat in this spot a lot since I work right next to it. I must say their service is always excellent and they keep the spot well kept consistently. Prices are reasonable and they serve generous portions.
The service is consistently efficient, fantastic ambience, nice employees. Will come back again when I arrive in the area.
I have serious allergies and the staff went above and beyond to ensure I could enjoy my meal worry free. They were knowledgable and super friendly! We had a love date night.
One of the best places for Japanese food in Toronto. Excellent service as well.
Service was terrible. Our waitress was extremely rude and yelled at us to read the menu since she didnt have glasses on. We got the summer special and it came to around 50$ with tips included. I chose the tuna tataki, which was terribly bland, but texture was good. The sashimi entre had huge portions, and the sashimi was pretty fresh, but I enjoyed the spicy tuna roll the most.
Fabulous sushi, the second oldest sushi restaurant in the city. Proper Tokyo style sushi bar. Great fish, courteous and authentic service.
Very fresh! Good prices
