Staff are always so happy and helpful. Never had a bad meal here and is always where I spend my birthday meal. Fantastic!!

Been coming here since I was a kid, now 44 and nothing has changed. Still the best Chinese restaurant in the area.

Gorgeous food had menu C and it was terrific. Friendly and helpful staff I enjoyed every mouthful and the tea was delicious. Thanks will definitely come again.

A good quality Chinese restaurant with a very friendly manager. The food is tasty and made to order. The only drawback was that the drinks were expensive.

I have never given a really bad review but I was disgusted with the food we ordered tonight. Spring rolls were off, I bit into one and the smell made me heave and I had to split it out. The others were the same. The rest of the food wash Luke warm, slimy and tasteless. To be honest we were all put off by then. Its the first time weve used this takeaway but we wont use them again. I just hope that we arent Ill in the morning as the rest of food was not at all fresh and most was thrown away. Maybe the restaurant service was better but the takeaway was disgraceful. So disappointed,. Such a waste of money.

My first visit. Enjoyed myself very much. Celebrating sisters 40th wedding anniversary and everyone enjoyed all courses. All agreed to go again. Staff very friendly and obliging.

I visited Water Margin on Tuesday 23 July at 8pm, a weekday during term time. I was with two other people. This was my first visit. I used Google Maps to find the restaurant, which was easy and led me straight to the right place.I parked in the restaurant car park, which had plenty of space. The car park was right behind the restaurant.Upon arrival I was greeted by a member of staff at reception who was friendly and welcoming. I had pre-booked a table to avoid any delay on arrival - I was shown straight to my table. The restaurant was a good size with plenty of tables. Had I not pre-booked it appears that I would have been alright just to have turned up but I like to avoid any issues! I booked my table over the phone earlier that evening, which was very simple to do - everything went very smoothly with the booking process.The restaurant comprises of one reasonably sized main dining area with a small bar and toilets. I was well looked after by our waitress, who visited the table often enough to look after our needs and was always on hand if I needed anything.I enjoyed various dishes from the all you can eat Gourmet Buffet. The food arrived hot, was well presented and tasted good.The restaurant toilets were clean and tidy.I would say this restaurant was on par with other similar restaurants I have visited previously. It was clean and tidy and the staff attentive. The food was perfectly satisfactory and certainly served in good time, was well presented and hot. I enjoyed my visit to Water Margin and would come again if I happened to be in the area, but wouldnt make a special trip.For ease of access I give Water Margin 5 out of 5. It was easy to find the restaurant using Google Maps - parking and getting to the restaurant was simple.For food quality I give Water Margin 4 out of 5. The food was well presented, the right temperature and tasted good. There was a good selection of food and I found something that appealed to me easily.For visitor experience I give Water Margin 4 out of 5. The team were attentive and I had no issues - we got everything we expected in good time and enjoyed the experience.For their facilities I give Water Margin 5 out of 5. The toilets were in a good condition, as you would expect.For value for money I give Water Margin 3 out of 5. For three of us we paid around £105, which included several drinks. Whilst not excessive and I would say broadly in line with other similar restaurants that I have visited, I felt this was expensive.Overall I give Water Margin 4 out of 5 - I enjoyed my visit and would come and visit again if I happened to be in the area.

We get a takeaway from here and it is always very delicious. The people we order from over the phone are friendly, professional and polite.

Been a few times now, we go out of our way to go here as always has good food.

The food here is always great and definitely worth a visit if you like your Chinese food and the service is just as good. My favourite Chinese restaurant in Southampton.

We have dined here for nearly 14 years and it is our favourite restaurant. The prices dont seem to have increased in all that time, which makes them excellent value for money now (quite pricey in the past). The vegetarian food on the menu is outstanding and so is the service; just the right amount of awareness without being obtrusive. We now live over 20 miles away but make the effort to get there for birthdays and celebrations.

Advertised Lager as draught but my son saw them pouring his Làger out of a can then charged over £7.00 for the privilege. Not happy as unfortunately he didnt say anything until after we had left after leaving a generous tip. I will think twice about returning, also food was mediocre.

Friendly and attentive staff who dealt with five exhausted youngsters (and their slightly frazzled parents) with a minimum of fuss. Food was very tasty.

After seeing the 4.4 review score, we went out of our way to order groom Water-margin. We are very very disappointed with the food which was unseasoned and very bland. We ordered crispy shredded chilli beef which was disgusting tough and chewy! The Singapore rice noodles were not spicy at all and overcooked. The special fried rice was ok but had no pork or beef and mininal small chewy shrimps. The chicken chop suey was runny, watery tasteless and unseasoned, it looked and tasted of Nothing! and the chicken was chewy and stringy as nd mushrooms soggy Ugh!! food was totally gross. One of the worst chinese meals weve had. The curry sauce saved the day by adding flavour to this dreadful meal :(

Have been a few times and food always very good but today service was terrible. It was so slow and instead of clearing table, waitress kept filling our water up even though not wanted. We had young children with us so had booked a fairly early meal but were still there nearly 4 hrs later. A very poor show tonight.
