Cheap and affordable home cooked pinoy food choices. The line gets crazy though. One should consider coming an hour before meal time.

A good place for cheap and authentic Filipino home cooked food. Dont expect fine dining restaurant quality service but definitely worth the hassle. Be prepared to queue up for food and point to the dish that you want. Price is about Php 300-500 for 4 persons.

This place is popularly called as Banay-Banay eatery by locals. It is famous for its budget friendly meals that are actually good in taste and quality. If you would dine here make sure you wont go at their busiest hours particularly if you are on a hurry (around 11am to 1pm) because the number of people eating here peaks at these hours and you can expect less parking space, long lines and crowded seats.
Food is ok, inexpensive. Restroom needs a LOT of improvement. Dining area does not feel clean. Tables are greasy.

The food is kalenderia style. We arrived at 1pm and they are already sold out of bulalo!? ,If thats your specialty should have plenty of it. Sinigang na Hipon which has 3 small shirmp, 1 piece of okra and 4 piece of sitaw cost 200 pesos. It taste like mang inasal soup full of knor sinigang mix. BBQ is cold and a little tough. Rice is cheap 10 pesos only and big serving and thats all thats good about it. We ate there to satisfy our hunger not our palete! Compare it to Rose and Grace which turo-turo style and you will see the difference.

I never had it so good at a local eatery: Kaldereta, Calamares, Bulalo, Barbecue. There was what looks like grilled tilapia which I didn’t get because it was on the other side of the table. I had line of sight too for some kind of shrimp dish which I refused because the shrimp was small and I had to work a bit to get into the meat. There are times when the best meal is one which I can just throw in my mouth and chew.The first four that I mentioned were just right, some even delicious. I’m not partial to Calamares; some put too much starch; others time it really bad that it becomes rubbery. I enjoyed this one. Texture is also a common mistake in beef recipes but no mistake in the Kaldereta, Bulalao, and Barbecure I just ate.We had a 72 year old woman with us and she finished off that Bulalo which I did not expect, because I had my eyes on it. Had that thing become a little more on the rubbery side most likely she would have stuck with the fish. Barbecue was heaven. Kaldereta just right.I was with a government monitoring team circling about in the province that day. As one of the newer faces around they gave me the standard assurances: masarap dito (it’s delicious here). Plus they charge at government rates which was the team leader’s funny way of saying it’s affordable.There’s no better endorsement for a place to eat than the number of people that do eat in it. It was full! I looked around a bit at Google Street View, those people eating Lando and Lorie’s that lunch time with us had to travel. The eatery is not in the middle of town to generate foot traffic. People come here for the good food.
