I was invited by Looloo to attend my very first rendezvoos at Toritake and Ill always remember this meet-up. Meeting people with the same passion for food is always exciting! Everyone treated me well, and as much as I wanted to talk with everyone, one meet-up just aint enough! This restaurant originated from Shibuya, Tokyo and this branch is their first one abroad. Chicken is their only meat, but what I found more intriguing was how much attention they put into cooking everything. To guarantee juicy chicken, they dont come from a freezer.Yakitori Set- Yakitori (Grilled Chicken)- Tsukune (Chicken Meatball)- Kawa (Chicken Skin)- Teba (Chicken Wings)- P-man (Green Bell Pepper)Get this set if you want to try a little of everything or default here if you cant make up your mind! It was my first time to have a green bell pepper this way, and I just kept telling myself it was healthy. Basic goodness would be the Yakitori and Kawa as the BEST of the BEST! The grilled flavor was appetizing and the texture just made me want more.Bonbonchy (Chicken Tail) was my second favorite! Its kinda sinful but Id still look for it. If you want to be on the safer side, get this or the Kawa, but not both.Deep Fried Yakitori was okay. It took awhile for me to start eating this so dont let this one wait out in the cold for you; coating can lose its crunch. Have this with sauce, much better!Chicken Karaage was pretty good. This waited a bit but remained crunchy.Potato Salad was a bit pricy but I did appreciate the ingredient mix. I might look for this but Im already all set with Kawa, Kawa, Kawa!To add some fun to the yakitori experience, its better to have them with a drink. Japanese Cherry Blossom Martini is a good choice for sweetness and Japanese Whiskey Highball for a very mild kick. Thanks again to the staff for being as quick as possible. Its understandable some good grilling takes time. I learned a lot about the standard for delicious traditional Japanese yakitori, and that those drinks should be consumed with the food, not after. Thanks again for the opportunity,Roegan T!
