Authentic Japanese Cuisine. Okonimiyaki & Takoyaki are good. Salmon & Tuna sashimi is fresh not re frozen fish. Service is very good. Price is worth the taste and ambiance. Better option vs mall based japanese restos.

This is a hidden jem in my opinion. Nestled in Katipunan, it offers food while your mom shops for groceries. Hahahaha! I was only able to sample the takoyaki, which is superb. The best takoyaki, according to my BFF.

Service: 5/5Food experience: 3/5 (average, we ordered beef steak but seemed unequally cooked, Yakitori was overcooked but sauce was good, iced tea was great)Grocery: 3/5 (Limited choices, expensive compared to other Japanese grocery stores, e.g. Little Tokyo, or Supermarket)

More affordable popular Japanese meals comapared to mall based restos... tastes good too. The grocery part has many items (nissin cup noodles et al).

I can buy Japanese ingredients which arent easily found in local supermarkets. They have:Ready To Drink Beverages (Melon Soda, Nescafe Excella, Bottled Fresh Juice Mixes, etc.)Fruits (Apples, Grapes, etc.)CheesesCold Cuts (Japanese Bacon, Ham, Sausages, etc.)Fish Eggs (Karashi Mentaiko, Tobiko, etc.)Kani (Imitation Crabsticks)Fresh Food (Daifuku, Dango, etc.)Aka Miso, Shiro Miso, Awase MisoReady To Cook Cream Korokke, Curry Korokke, Menchikatsu, etc.Ice Cream In A Cup (Matcha, Chocolate and Vanilla flavors)EdamameFrozen VegetablesUnagiFrozen FishDifferent Sauces (Ponzu, Teriyaki Sauce, Mirin, Yakiniku Sauce, Tonkatsu Sauce, Sukiyaki Seasoning Sauce and so much more)Kewpie MayoSakura DenbuRamen (Theres so much variety)UmeboshiNori, Wakame, Konbu (Seaweeds)Curry Roux (In different brands, my favorite S&B Golden Curry is a lot more affordable here than from supermarkets. Currently, the difference is more than 40 PHP.)Furikake (Again, so much variety youll find it hard to choose.)Japanese-style Pasta MixesThey also have a dining area where you can order sushi (no makimono though), donburi, salads, curry rice or katsu curry, ramen, takoyaki, sui gyouza, yaki gyouza, etc.The price range is around 250-450+ PHP.I can say its on the expensive side coz I can get those items with the same prices (or sometimes even less) from my favorite restaurants. I didnt want to risk disappointment hence we just tried my comfort food たこ焼き (Takoyaki), Matcha Shortcake and Ichigo Latte. The Takoyaki is yummy, the sauce tastes authentic and not adjusted for the Filipino palate. Its how its served in Japan. Only ingredient they lack though is Katsuobushi. It wont hurt having it on top since they sell it too. For its price of 90 PHP though (8 balls), its not bad. Highly recommended than those Takoyaki-selling stalls with super sweet sauce.Matcha Shortcake is nice too. It lacks a bit of the bitterness of Matcha but its all good. Its creamy, fluffy and it melts in the mouth. The Ichigo Latte is a letdown though. The strawberry taste is so faint. For 160 PHP its not worth it. Id rather buy Selecta Fortified Milk (70) and Frozen Strawberries (99) and make my own. I can make a liter for 169 as opposed to a serving of this.Overall experience will make me come back here. Ill probably drop by frequently coz we normally cook Japanese cuisine at home.

Pleasantly surprised with this place. Good is cheap and tasty. Would recommend the karaage and yakitori. We also enjoyed the takoyaki.

While theres quite a number of Japanese goods I dont usually see in other Japanese groceries, the selection is very poor. They dont even have the common Japanese noodles like the Marutais or the cup noodles. Some canned fish here and there. Mirin, Sake and shoyo are available but those are available anywhere. I was very disappointed with my visit with the limited selection.

Very nice clean place, spacious. I get a very comfy vibe. I like this place more than the Manila and makati branches. Unfortunately, sake choices were few (no doubt due to the covid crisis). But, was still able to score some good choices. Next time here, Ill probably try their sushi and donburi. Will keep you guys posted. Stay safe all!

Restaurant is meh. Despite its appearance, it functions like a fast food restaurant where you pick up your food from the counter. Food is also not amazing when compared to other japanese restaurants along the same road who have the same price points.Grocery has a limited selection and most of it does not have an english or tagalog translation, so if you are new to cooking japanese products, you might need to keep googling each and every product. The overall service is also terrible with the exception of the guard. The staff boast an indifferent attitude and maintain a haggard ambiance. It is already quite something to say that the guard is more helpful than the staff.Overall, while the layout of the store is nice and their products seem authentic, if I knew another place that sells the same products, I would never trouble myself to step into this store.Good service makes a difference.

Got there right after opening so it was quiet, and parking was still easy. The grocery is small but had enough interesting ingredients to keep us occupied for almost an hour. We bought pickles, noodles for ramen, broth, unagi, and inari.

There are several things I look for when in a Japanese restaurant. For sushi places, its the futomaki. For ramen shops, I look for quality in the soft-boiled egg. New Hatchin Japanese Grocerant has ramen eggs which are firm outside and a runny center. This shows the attention to detail in making the ramen. The gyoza is above par. It is as good or better than the best gyoza offered at other Japanese restaurants. The Shoyu ramen has firm ramen, al dente and not like the softer Japanese I am accustomed to having. The shoyu soup base is an elegant soy sauce base with a slight sweetness which does not overpower. New Hatchin is part Japanese grocery and part Japanese restaurant. It is impressive and the wait staff are attentive and know their products.

Love that they have opened a branch near us but this is more like a restaurant than a grocery. Glad that they have repacked Japanese ingredients to smaller servings so if youre just a home cook you dont need to but big bags you wont be able to consume.

A bit of a let down. I was so excited that a japanese grocerant was open near my area but the place didnt have a lot of items. There were a few things that you can only buy there but not really recipe breakers.A lot of the items they were selling are available elsewhere. Also the food was just ok.Convenient if you want Japanese food and live in St. Ignatius village.

A place where you can buy Japanese goods and eat Japanese food! The takoyaki is just 95php for 8 pcs! The serving is good for sharing. The yakisoba was just fine. The Yakitori’s meat was still pinkish so I requested to make it well done instead. Tried their Vanila Crepe and Double Formage, both were just fine. I liked the vanilla crepe better though. The staff in the grocery area are friendly. The crew in the restaurant needs to be trained to be more accommodating and helpful to customers. The place gets crowded during lunchtime. There’s an ample parking slots in front of the establishment and the guard is helpful enough to guide you when parking.
