Good alternative to the nearby restaurants along Quezon Avenue (KFC, Roasters, Maxs). The 1st floor seats around 50. We tried the tortang talong, bangus ang pinakbet combo and the famous Kuya J halo halo. The price is reasonable. The staff are attentive. The restroom is clean. The dishes were seasoned well. The iced tea was a bit too sweet for my taste. Overall, satisfied with the dining experience.

We love the food in kuya J. Everything is so tasty specially the baked oysters which I love! And their halo-halo... the serving is a lot! Can be shared by 2 persons. Love the halo halo coz the ice is soft and milky. The only downside is its a bit pricey and the serving is not that much.

The best I can say is that the service was good. Staff was attentive, and delivery reasonably fast. Of course it probably helps that the restaurant was lightly populated that day. We ordered the bagnet kare-kare, bangus, and sisig, and this is where my issues lay...bangus tasted bitter and oily, as if it was fried in cold oil in relatively low heat. The bagnet kare kare, though not bad, wasnt terribly great either, tasting a lot like the calcium from the pork bones more than the flavor of the meat. The sisig was largely composed of shredded pork, but only the lean meat. Although this tends to be healthier, thats not what sisig is typically supposed to be. All it needs is garlic, basil, and cracked pepper to make twice-cooked adobo. Though the staff were nice, I wouldnt go back on the merits of the food.
