Actually im not that historic fan but i like to see a bit of history or some historical places where will i go.. And yesterday i visited this area.. . And i learned... Plus the tourist guide who explained it all is kinda funny and a nice one.. To sir dan.. Thank you very much... Im. Blessed that once in my lofe our path crossed.. Thank you and to kuya (i dont know his name, his the information desk.) who helped me find my direction.. Thank you.. My stay in cebu is so memorable..
Its not the most comprehensive and complete museum out there but Im giving this 5 star rating for reasons:- entrance fee is quite affordable for 30 pesos (not sure how much now)- the place used to be a prison for Filipino Katipuneros- gives you a glimpse of old Cebu, its old architecture, the political families and artifacts discovered in the island.- the place has a huge courtyard, you can even book for events such as weddings, birthday and debuts for a really affordable price. You wont believe the booking fee here compare to the Cathedral museum.- the entrance to the parking area feels like entering a garden, and we loved it.- last but not the least, its quite informative and shows you the events of the past, even the history of Tres de Abril.
The guide was very helpful and we really learned a lot from him.
So plenty of artifacts donated by the original dwellers in Cebu city. The artifacts were grouped accordingly to a specific room. Bonus: you can rent the field for occasions at a cheap price for 6 hours.
Not worth your time. Tour guides like to add this as its a free destination to your tour. But its not really worth the time nothing too exciting to see.
I loved it.... Nice summary of all events
An old garrison turned into a museum and events place. It has a good collection of artefact from pre-collonial times up to the WWII.
Nice little free-entry museum set up on the old prison. Summarises the difficult history of Philippines well.
The staff And the OJT students were accomodating. hoping I will be back next time with enough time to ask questions about the history of a specifiv item
Good place to see and learn the history of the Philippines.
Small museum in the heart of Cebu city, interesting info inside!
Rich collection of historical and cultural artifacts that gives the visitor a vivid encounter of the rich past of Cebu and its people which greatly contributed to the overall national history of the Philippines and its development.Collections from the different families add to the splendor of the experience as the numerous pictures, materials and testimonies will fill your mind with a colorful glimpse of the Cebuano society and heritage, dating back from the arrival of Magellan and the first governor general of the Spanish Conquest, Miguel Lopez de Legazpi until the contempory times. The head curator was very helpful in explaining many of the collections, among them the one which established a connection of the Philippines and France, to the delight of my French friends. This museum places the Cebuanos in an active limelight as revolutionaries and nationalists who sacrificed their minds, limbs and spirit for the freedom of the Philippines. The Katipuneros of Cebu are featured in one of the main galleries. If you want to feel the past, dont miss to visit this place.
This is the best place to visit for travel tourist and learn about Cebu cultural heritage and historical accounts
Nice to place to experience phillifino history & attractice building, paintings.
Good place to review Phils history. Relics and artifacts are still in good condition and preserved well.
It was of the History of the Philipines, use a gide to explane it all!
There are amazing things you will discover in this place...
I like how this place was turned into a museum. Each gallery has descriptions and well-organized.
Cebu museum which was a prisoner before is good although no parking available. Dancing inmates started dancing there. There is a female jail and bartolina. It a museum now. A lot of money inside...lol and artifacts of wwll soldiers. Thats good.
There is a tour guide readily available to walk you through once you enter the premises, which is a huge plus point because you get to appreciate what the museum offers!!
Amazing place to visit, take a guide as they give you great information about Cebu and the Philippines
Full of information of the beginning of Cebu!
Their google map info isnt updated which made me visit the place wjen it is close. New closing time is being observed. It os now open only on Tuesdays to Saturdays.
Great Place. Enjoyed the interesting Arts and Historical Items there.
Must see experience, part of the Cebu Heritage Walk they will introduce soon. Get tolearn more about the history od the ingebreid paper before the Spanish occupation, and the resistance against the Japanese after the second world War.
A place to look up to for us to recall the essence of the past..our beloved history
An incredibly comprehensive dive into Cebuan history within the context of the Philippines as a whole with great descriptions and interesting displays.
You need at least a full day to really appreciate the place.
It was a fascinating look at the change in Sogbu (Cebu) history. We were able see everything from the ethnic minorities through the colonisation and the occupations of Cebu and the Philippines. It was a lot of information that was made easily digestible.
Good local museum for a quick tour
Museo Sugbo is such a wonderful place because it has many exhibits. Most of the room are air-conditioned and the whole place and structure are well maintained by the management and by the Cebu Provincial Government. Exhibits has AVPs with Historian Sir Jobers Bersales and it has a classical music. As a student, I am thankful that Museo Sugbo is free of charge. Although, Im quite sad that only some people values and appreciate museums as such I have appreciate the LGU and the management for running it well even in such a small number of visitors.
You can see amazing and unbelievable historic material and things
It preserves our provincial antiques and history
Such a great place. Lots of stuff available and very helpful staff.
The exhibition is not attractive but it is no entrance fee
Cok değisik bence farklı bir müze görmek gezmek gerek
Great place to start understanding their culture.
