Going around the museum, I felt pride in being an Ilonggo. The art pieces from established Ilonggo artists were amazing. They are not for sale, although theres a shop where you can buy museum souvenirs. You can take pics on the first floor but its not allowed on the 2nd and 3rd. Entrance fees, P100 adults, P50 students, P80 senior. They also have The Box for conferences, etc.
A clean and modern three-level museum housing contemporary artworks of both Ilonggo natives and foreigners. Was particularly impressed with the places modern and spacious interior and the operators effort to catch up with other countries MOCA. Was just slightly disappointed with the limited artworks displayed in the exhibits and the presence of artworks created by non-Ilonggo natives. Could have been better if the museum exclusively showcased artworks of people born in the province.
A very impressive museum with tremendous significance in the Philippines. Spanning 3,000 sq m over three storeys, ILOMOCA is the first contemporary art museum in the Visayas-Mindanao region dedicated mainly to Filipino and Ilonggo artists and is also part of the magnificent and highly artistic 72-hectare Iloilo Business Park development by Megaworld. The museum is in a Spanish-style building and features some truly stunning works by established Ilonggo attists such as Rock Drilon, Ed Defensor and Jose Tence; up-and-coming local artists such as Clairelyn Uy, Toti Cerda and Moreen Austria; and international masters such as Salvador Dali and Adam Miller.Iloilo is one of the provinces with the greatest wealth of artistic talent in the Philippines. As one explores this museum, one truly gets the sense of this depth of talent and also the passion with which the resplendent collection was curated.
If youre an art enthusiast and you want to take a break from the busy streets of Megaworld Iloilo, then this 3-floor-museum is right for you.Its a 1-2 minutes walk from the Festive Walk Mall. Youll be welcomed with a clean, modern and serene atmosphere.Entrance fee:Adult Php 100Student Php 50Payment will be at the reception area upon entering the museum (in between the escalator and souvenir shop). Youll be then briefed by the receptionist with the rules and regulations while he/she attaches the guest wristlet on your wrist.Picture taking is now allowed (except for selfies and camera flash). You have the freedom to stroll all over the place. However, be aware that they have a tight security. Literally, like they have a security guard and a staff in each gallery. So wherever you go, they will follow you in a distance. But dont worry, they do their best to be in discreet if they feel like you want solitude. Theyre also very accommodating. Like this one Mister Guard who is so kind he offered to take a picture of me with the painting and sculptures using my camera. Another Miss Guard I met is angle-conscious and she tries to take pictures with a good lighting. All of the paintings and sculptures are mind-blowing. There are some pieces which you need to get a closer and longer look (and some which needs better lighting) to see the details and the message they wish to convey.
This is an additional must-see in the city in response to the resurging interest of Filipinos (particularly Ilonggos) in various works of art. Entry fee ranges from 50Php-100Php. I assure you that its all worth it to pay a visit here to appreciate contemporary arts. After enjoying artworks, you may savor local delicacies and cuisine just beside the museum. Its location being at the center if the bustling business district of makes it more convenient to everyone.
Love the art and the security of the place.
For only 100 pesos entrance fee, all worth it.
Had a meaningful experience with these new found Ilonggo friends. Thank you, GBG Iloilo! #localguide
Educational and very uplifting experienced. Depicting Filipino artistic talent and spirit.
Enjoyed most of the art work. Glad they support contemporary Filipino artists.
Contemporary art, a depiction of changes in a society. Thats one way of saying how the owners art collection is and how it is curated in every exhibit they place.
Awesomely GREAT art work! & I found my friend Nelfa Querubins art pottery BEAUTY ️
Loved the metal houses tableau set on a long wooden keel! Loved the attentiin to detail!
Nice nice places & peoples too
At least have someone to talk about the different art forms to make the museum more engaging
Wide range of art and artists. They do not allow photography in Galleries 1-4 but did not really spoil the experience for me. Excellent place to visit but would be better if they have more benches as the place is quite big.
3 storey building housing Filipino contemporary art
Wonderfully curated! A must see in IloIlo
The place is nice. Good museum experience...
Nice place, but disappointed when my husband and i learned that this museum is asking for payment.weve been in manilas museumS but no one ask for payment.
Love this museum!
A world class collection in a small city is a must see.
As an Ilonggo, it is enlightening to see our fellow Ilonggos art. The place is well-maintained. Im proud that Iloilo has this art space.
The ILoMoCA is a very modern museum with a nice gallery. There are three floors and the ground floor houses the seasonal displays and the museum shop. The 2nd and 3rd floors has the most extensive collections of modern art. Too bad though that we cant take photos as these are private collections. The museum is very big, clean, and fully air conditioned and has modern restrooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors. So nice!
The place is just awesome! I love that they sell shirts with printed artworks as shown inside the gallery.
You cant take pictures in this museum.Nice place to see local artists work.
Great collection of artworks from the young and the most important artists in the Philippines.
Its nice to see this kind of private collection turned into a museum of contemporary art in Iloilo. I went during the first few weeks and things seemed rough around the edges. The front desk staff was very slow to process guests and first-floor guards didnt know that it was okay to take pictures on the first floor. Things are more streamlined now. They have a no-pictures policy in the 2 main floors, which is a fine idea.Ive been back 3 times since theyv opened, and I still dont understand why the second floor balconies arent open yet. Also, I love seeing the artwork by local artists, but most of their titles are not translated. It would help a lot to have English translations below their original titles.Further, Id like to know who the main curator is. The typed introductions that you encounter at the top of the second floor are nationalistic, and controversial, to say the least: There is no Ilonggo art--only art conceived and realized by the many Ilonggo artists from everywhere who contribute to the flourishing of Filipino art. Pure gibberish. Why showcase local artists in a local museum? Are there also no Ilonggo museums?
Molto bello! Nuovo e opere di artisti locali interessanti
Amazing collection. they have a mirò and a dali, as well as a bencab, a pair of orlinas, and a large m cacnio! worth visiting! even the gift shop is interesting to check out.it was unfortunate though that none of the escalators were working when we visited. elevator was also not in operation. nor were the bathrooms in the upper galleries open for use. i was with a senior citizen so this made her visit a bit difficult. however, these are things that can be easily addressed so my review remains at 5 stars. i hope things improve on our next visit.
The place is looks great
A nice place for young people to visit.
It reminds me of Madrid Spain. Tahimik
