I am moving in a month and a half, when I tried to give them a heads up that I would be canceling they told me I was unable to do so until a month away. COME TODAY, NOW ONE MONTH OUT: the lines are busy and the internet chat is claiming they do not have any agents available - yet when I was able to get through to an agent and tell him I was canceling my service I was disconnected.Other than the customer service being trash, the service is spotty. For the most part it is good but occasionally will go out for 5 mins.

WORST cable company ever. RCN came into my condo apt to install TiVo. None of the TV channels worked after installation (all TV channels line up were incorrect, show info written in Spanish, non-US TV channels, etc). I called RCN and asked for the technician to come back to unit to fix the issues. RCN said technician would come back to my unit to fix the issues by 5pm. As afternoon came and went, no technicians ever came back when RCN assured me on 3 different occasions that a technician would come back to fix the issue.Spoke with a supervisor named Matthew at RCN in the evening and was told a technician would come to my apt to fix the issues next morning between 8am to Noon. Once again, no technician ever came. The supervisor also lied and told me RCN does not have an email address where customers can contact for issue resolution.RCN did a NO CALL, NO SHOW to the scheduled appointments TWICE! I’m stuck with a useless TiVo box.Very bad customer service!!!

I wish I could rate them 0 stars. Every time I call to get someone on the phone, I get a busy signal when they transfer me and they hang up. I cant use the live chat to communicate with anyone because it tells me that all of their reps are occupied. RCN is simply refusing to provide me with any service. Do not use them.Update: theyre deleting any negative social media posts as well. This isnt how any company should do business. DO NOT USE THEM!

Update: Finally sorted billing and connection problems and was given a reasonable upgrade package. The process was a difficult though.Ive had this service for 3 months and nothing has gone right. I had a rented modem for 3 days. After replacing with my own modem I had two recurring problems: still be charged monthly for the modem, and my modem was not installed correctly on their end, causing problems with my internet and my account. I have been trying to upgrade my internet and have encountered a lot of difficulty in this simple process. Customer support has routed me to non-customer facing personnel, and every time I followed up on my existing ticket, I had to start from scratch. I should note that while unhelpful at times the staff were mostly really considerate.

They keep up charging service without providing any change in service. Comcast would willingly find discounts to maintain the same price and service year over year. No such help from RCN. Terrible business practices

The worst network amongst internet providers. They have the lowest speed per cost and very frequent interruptions. Internet is not just about the cost, it’s about consistency in availability when you need it and they are very inefficient in the latter. Don’t waste your money to buy headache!

Terrible Experience while being with RCN. I will never recommend them to anyone! Eddie was the rudest individual i have ever spoken to. I dont think i have ever had a worse customer service experience than i did with RCN. The Customer Service individual Laughed at me, when i was sincerely explaining my situation to him. I was so taken back by how unprofessional this gentleman was to me, that i asked for a Manager right away. Eddie (RCN employee) put me on Hold, and then hung up the phone.I will never ever use RCN.

So they sent a flyer in the mail with a good offer, i called the number on the flyer, was told i was signed up for their offer etc. Except i never was, was put on their regular plan, chatting with their reps and calling their reps on the phone kept saying conflicting things, until someone flat out told me yeah no we never gave you that offer. So, in summary: horrible business practices, misleading advertisement, a just a whole lotta lies. Thanks RCN :)

I am seriously considering dropping RCN. Repair men they sent are incompetent and are unable to solve the problem they came to fix. Hard to believe they consider themselves technicians. Looking to find another provider. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Worst internet provider you could ever have! DO NOT USE RCN! They will accuse you of missing payments even when you have the confirmation number of said payments, once that scam doesn’t work out they will say your bank refused the payment but will decline to give you any documentation of it being refused. All in all a bunch of hoops to Jump through for sub par internet. I thought AT&T was bad but these bozos make it look like a cakewalk.

If i can give 0 star i would. This is hand down the worst and least reliable internet service in Chicago. I mean how can this company manage to have outages almost every weekdays, especially in the morning??? Imagine you are having an online interview for a job, or taking the exam, or doing some important works, this kind of service not only screw up customer experience but also the company reputation as well. Un-fkin-beliable.
