Trying to find a decent Filipino restaurant in the city of Chicago is harder than you think. Since the city is such a huge melting pot of people and cultures, you generally have specific areas where youll find certain types of cuisine. Luckily, enter Cebu with reminiscent flavors of traditional Filipino cuisine, as well as modern spin of classic dishes. Take their Chicken and Waffle for example: inclusive of boneless deep fried chicken, its paired with an untraditional Pandan syrup and Ube butter. You can space the regular waffle for a Ube waffle and get Ube syrup as well. I decided to over indulge and got all the fixings! If you want to try their Lechon, go for the Lechon Benedict on their brunch menu. Its decently sized and definitely shareable. You dont need to order the half/whole portion. If youre going to aim for dessert, the The Churro Bowl is good but tiny. When it arrived on the table, I was taken back a bit. Had I known the size, I wouldve ordered another dessert without hesitation.

This restaurant is delicious! There has been explosion of Filipino eateries in the city over the past year, and this one definitely stands out as one of, if not THE BEST! Excellent food and really great service. We loved the coconut milk-based adobo, empanada, inasal skewers, and guava sangria! I hope to be back really soon.

Great family run spot. I meant to take a picture of the chicken adobo for posterity, but I devoured it before that could happen. The garlic rice was savory deliciousness too.

We ordered takeout from Cebu during quarantine and they did not disappoint. The people were friendly and the food was phenomenal. We ordered the lumpia, pancit, and spicy chicken sliders and loved everything. We are looking forward to planning our next visit and trying the rest of the menu!

If you’re looking for a beautiful and intimate outdoor patio that has creatively killer Filipino fusion cuisine, Cebu is the place for you! Family owned and run - the food, drinks, staff and atmosphere go well above expectations. This was the first place my fiancé and I dined after the reopening and I couldn’t have felt more comfortable. The tables were set more than 6 feet apart so it didn’t feel crowded compared to the vibe of other restaurants in the area. Definitely add this place to your list ! And add the sweet chorizo pandesal sliders to your order immediately !

Terrible service. We went during restaurant week, so the restaurant should have been aware that there would be large crowds. There was one server (who doubled as a host) for the whole floor. Both our server and the food runners rushed us, and were unable to answer questions about the menu. Further, not one plate was cleared off of our table. This means that we had to maneuver around duck bones and dirty utensils to eat our dessert.Presentation of food was good, though the food itself was lukewarm at best.Will not go back.

I was thoroughly impressed with Cebu! Great food, nice atmosphere and outstanding service! The staff was so accommodating and the owner was extremely friendly too. We ordered a couple of items we shared. Cebu’s lechon (the roasted pork) is a must have, so juicy and crispy in the same time. Also, we really loved sisig and the barbecue skewers. Every single bite was AMAZING! Their shaved desert halo-halo and the cheesecake were so delicious too. Lastly, we had some very cool and unique cocktails that I think I’ve never tried anywhere in Chicago. Cebu has become one of our favorite restaurants in Bucktown/Wicker Park!

We ordered the Sambag Wings, the Sisig, and the Lechon Manok to share. The Wings were hot and fresh, definitely the highlight. The Sisig was a bit dry and not as hot as the amount of jalapeños led me to believe. The Manok had good flavor, but was outdone by how much better the Wings were.The ambiance of the place is quite nice, dim lit and relatively lively (this was a Thursday dinner).

The moment I stepped inside this vibrant place, lit felt like home. Going into details,the lechon belly was juicy, crispy, and perfectly tasty Cebuano style. Lechon manok was great, and lastly, the Halo-Halo was my favorite of all, it’s creamy, rich and smooth. Service is super fast, didn’t have to wait long at all. Shout out to Cody who went above and beyond for his service. Also to Marlon who was so accommodating and very friendly. Will strongly recommend this place to all who live in Chicago and those who are visiting Chicago!
