The museum layout is pretty simple and orderly. I liked that its a single story building and its outdoor landscape was a great place to hang out or have snacks, get to know some of the other folks on the photowalk with us like we did.The interior has a similar feel to Cebus national museum; Sugbo Meseo. And a bit of the National Museum of Fine Arts. Galleries are also distinguished by plain colored walls to compliment the artifacts or art pieces.I liked the introduction done by the museum host when we visited; of its importance to the city, the province and the whole of Mindanao. When we were there, there was also an exhibit of colorful paintings on tapestries by Bert Monterona which advocate protecting the environment, anti-war and culture of peace campaign.

Schedule: Tuesday - Sunday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (except for special declaration)The place was nicely planned. It was fenced with live big tress, and in front of the museum is a lake(? or a river). Peace and artistly designed. The tour guide was really brilliant. he speaks calmly; not so fast but not so slow. His manner in talking shows that he really knows what his doing. He spoke of facts based on their written history, archaeological finds, geological records, and society. The paintings are really great. but, it was only painted by few people. It did not cater other artists - local artists (painters).I commend the curator for beautifully preserving the archaeological remains of Balangay. same is true with other man-made equipment and hand-tools.The museum is still too big not to be filled with artifacts that defines Butuan. Hope they could share more of what Butuan was millennia ago.

If youre a history buff, interesting facts about the early Butuan before it became what it is now. The large grounds is good for an afternoon lounging on its park benches. I was hoping to find the Princess Tara but not on display.

No golden Tara, bring back at least the fake golden Tara. Americans got the real golden Tara it would be good they give it back to the Philippines in exchange i m sure they can get the fake for free... It s a shame that Filipinos who would want to see it shoud go to Chicago museum...

#SirangLente #AimFor81 - This branch of the National Museum houses a collection of relics that were discovered in the region. There are ceramics, earthenware, locally woven fabrics, paintings, books, jars, skeletons, and many more. Each of the items are enclosed in a glass cabinets while the others are on the walls.

Museum curators were welcoming and accomodating. Enjoyable and an educational experience showcasing the lifestyle of our pre-hispanic ancestors, as well as, a showcase of art from a local artist.Taking pictures were allowed inside as long as flash is disabled. No entrance fee required.
