I have been in some fine photography stores, but this was in the seventies. It is rare to find a genuine store that follows a service model of doing business. I bought a used Nikon D750 at this store. However, recently, I bought a rather expensive variable ND filter. Like a buffoon, I unscrewed a knob not meant for unscrewing. It fell apart. Luckily, the engaging staff at this store exchanged the lens filter without batting an eye. If Id bought this from an online store or a volume-designed Box Store, chances are they would have asked for an extended warranty. If you want service, friendly staff, and an incredible collection of photographic equipment, this is one of the best in Texas.

I love the precision team! I am a local wedding photographer and I’m constantly running in to the North location to stock up on last minute gear, film, etc. their repair counter is also fantastic for camera gear maintenance - I couldn’t do my job without them.

Service could be better. If you walk up to the wrong place in the counter and wait in line, when its your turn they will inform you that you should have gone to the department thats 10 feet away down the counter, where no person has been in sight for the last 15 minutes that youve been waiting. All with the dull, listless expression that is common in these Austin places that have become very conscious that they are an Austin thing and you the customer should just be grateful that they even open their doors to you.

Great service! I have not been to the physical store but when I was having trouble placing an order online, issues on my end not theirs, Matt from Sales was very helpful in helping me get my order fulfilled though email.

This place is great. We buy a lot of film and dark room chems and theyve always got what we need in stock. Everyone is knowledgeable, helpful, and willing to answer questions.

If your camera has water damage they would just simply tell you go get a new camera :)

Film developing here is quite a gamble. Some times good quality other times with visible scratches. Also with long turn around for pickup.

Precision camera is a local treasure for me and many others like myself in this online age. Before going to the first time, I would see ads and thought it might be a small shop with a few things in it and a repair/rental department. To my surprise, when I walked into the store, I was absolutely blown away at the size and took noticed that the inventory was just about everything I had been researching on the Internet but it was right there where I could see and touch it and buy immediately instead of calculating possible shipping times versus when I might need it. The only downside for me was that it was a long drive from South Austin to their location up north. This was remedied not long after by the addition of a South location that they just so happens to place one minute from my house. Evil I know. If there is anything I need that is not at this location by my house I just let them know and they bring it over right away. All the stars. Additionally, the staff are great and there are many things about this business that holds true to the old school principles that make local businesses strong but seem to be fading away in modern times. All the stars.

When I broke my camera a few days ago at a session, I truly didn’t know what to do next. I brought my camera in to the south location to discuss options and Devron was an absolute saint! He helped me pick out a new kit that fit all my needs and more (including budget!) and was able to navigate my trade in seamlessly. Once again, Precision proves to be in the best in town!

Good selection of cameras and accessories. Decent prices. Can get busy and a bit nm impersonal from time to time. No Pentax carried in store any more. Back to online shopping I guess.

I wouldnt buy used lenses from this outfit. I bought a zoom and it came with not so obvious flaw. I checked for any flaw when I first received it, but it never occurred to me that I need to check at different apertures. I found it after a few weeks only when it showed up in my pictures.They are giving my money back, so I wont complaint too much. But youd think they inspect used items thoroughly before reselling them. The hassle left a bad taste in my mouth, I dont think Ill ever buy used gear again. If I do, Ill have to stick to reputable used gear stores that also gives 180 days to return.

Was in the market for a new camera but the one I wanted has been out of stock for months and months. seen a few reviews on YouTube and one video mentioned that they bought theirs at Precision Camera in Austin Texas. Did a quick Google Shopping search and visited their website. Saw that they had the one I wanted in stock, but I never purchased anything from them before in the past. I was kind of sketched out because a lot of online stores may display items for sale but without telling or listing that its not a USA item, meaning it sometimes can be sold as an international item. Which does not come with the full warranty of a USA item purchase. I called them up and spoke to (Mark) at the North Austin location store (they have two locations btw). He confirmed with me that they dont sell any international items and that it was for sure a USA item. Also, it was the last one as well. I thanked him and told him that I would be buying it within the next 5 mins. Made my purchase on their website, got free UPS shipping, and it arrived within a few days. Super excited and glad I went with them for my purchase. Highly recommend! Mark was very friendly, informative, and insured that the online sales department knew I was about to buy it. Would definitely purchase from them again soon!!

The staff here are helpful. Even more so in this current COVID environment. I had ordered a lens online to be shipped. Quickly, I realized that I would have time to pick it up in-store. With a quick call, they converted from shipped orders to a curbside pick-up.It’s not the first time I’ve purchased from them. My history with them, I’ve always bought used items and they check out! Items are fairly priced, always as described, and love that I’m never upsold here.No one beats Precision.

Davren (South Store) assisted next and took the time to show me many lenses until I found the perfect fit. Very pleased with my Sony A7C and Tamron 17-28mm. First class service. Excellent knowledge and very good representative for the store!!
