Really enjoyed the friendly staff at the nature center. Enjoyed watching roadrunners in the parking area and the beautifully decorated bird blind near the marsh area. Nice little butterfly garden. We enjoyed hiking the trails, especially along the river to the ramada. Trail not always marked. Some trails are really bike trails and have less shade. I enjoyed the narrow trails with shade.
Nice afternoon walk through the center with a $3 self pay entry fee. At 3pm on Wednesday there was almost nobody there. This is adjacent to a state park that extends to the Rio Grande.
Nice, safe place to walk. $3 parking.
Free park with multiple activities available. Parking inside park is 3$. The welcome center has bathrooms which are clean, and friendly staff ready to answer any quesrions you have. There is also a pond viewing area which appears to have a lot of turtles in view as well as a few geese. Bookstore is available to peruse and gain some knowledge. My group took a modified aldo leopold loop which was quite pleasant, only complaints were the vast amounts of horse poop on the trail.
Maybe the best thing Albuquerque has going for it. And the foothills. Never the same experience twice
Great for kids and adults. Be sure to follow the paths. We did get lost but found our way back.
Visitor center is nice and very informative. They have a room just for kids to learn and play.
Very cool spot, keep an eye out for porcupines in trees!
Covid closures and still want you to pay admission. Not on my watch.
Nice place for a easy hike.
Excellent spot for an out-of-towner to do a bit of birding.
Great place birds and some education
The Rio grande nature center is a great place to take a leisurely stroll to look at birds or to sit inside and look over the pond observing birds and other wildlife, very low-key. This is a great place for so bring your camera. I wish Albuquerque could give the center some money somehow to freshen the place up . The staff are very knowledgeable about the Bosque and local wildlife and can help you identify and birds etc. You might see. if you want to explore further there is a walk that connects to the Bosque and the bike trail. The picture below is a ladder back woodpecker.
