We celebrate Christmas at Jacks every year and are never disappointed. The staff are always friendly and the food is always incredible!

The food was absolutely wonderful!How ever the service left alot to be desired. Our waiter was neglectful and we waited along time to get the wine glass refilled.Its a shame really would have loved to return for a family dinner but prefer a hassle free service for larger groups.

Hubby and I had Thanksgiving pre fixed dinner today at the legendary Jacks Oyster House in Albany. While the dining room lacked any kind of festive holiday decorations, which was just a small disappointment, the tables were well spaced, it was not crowded, and they appeared to take the cleaning very seriously. Hubby had the traditional turkey dinner and I had the prime rib. Our Ceasar salads and dinners were delicious. My slice of pumpkin pie for dessert was too small but tasty. Hubbys slice of cheesecake with berry swirl and whipped cream was noticeably larger and also very tasty. Special thanks to Jacks and their staff for being open on Thanksgiving day to serve those of us who are social distancing from family and friends this year. We may consider going back for Christmas dinner if theyre open on 12/25.

It wasnt simply the amazing welcoming service that we received from Bill, the attentive Bartender (coined the Mixologist by me and my friend). It had to be the way he made sure we were taken care of and treated with the utmost in customer service and satisfaction. From the way he presented the complimentary bread to us to the Phenomenal Complete Manhattan(s) that we had the pleasure of meeting. It was an absolutely lovely experience.I am a stickler for excellent customer care and service and this experience what just what we needed to take edge off after our trip from Chicago to Albany.Gratitude to Bill, Moriah and her brother (sorry didnt get his name) at Jacks for making this an experience to remember. Well see you tomorrow before we go to the CNYS BLACK EXPO GALA for a delicious drinks and a few minutes of conversation!

I love the feel here, so calm. Had the Wagyu with some Yukon mash and it was fantastic.

This may have been the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. This was where my girlfriend wanted to go for her birthday and it was highly recommended by her. She got the filet mignon mid-rare and I got the lobster and filet Medium. She said her steak was good. Both of my entrées were overcooked. Picture rubberized burnt lobster tail and a glorified steak tip. To pin the nail in the coffin we were swarmed by fruit flies. It literally seemed like we were camping by a river. We told the waitress and basically whoever may have been the manager (a unnamed petite man who didn’t introduce himself) came over and apologized. He basically in some way explained whatever he thought the problem might be without much empathy and brought our food back in take out containers. There was no discount offered, no mention of possibly a gift card for the future... nope. Just 90 dollars for a burnt tail, 2 steak tips (Mine charred) and a Diet Coke. Consumer beware!... oh and one last thing, we had an reservation and they failed to inform us or mention on their sites menu that there was less than half of the menus options available. I honestly wish I never walked in the door. I would’ve saved 65 dollars and a half hour drive and got five guys.

Excellent service and love the traditional, historical aura of the place. First time dining there in many years. Cheese and fruit appetizer was really delicious, as were the mixed drinks. Two entrées (salmon and filet mignon) were prepared just perfectly, but the third, the surf and turf was overcooked: steak too done and lobster tail was hard and overcooked. The pistachio tiramisu was to die for. Still give them 5 stars on balance, recognizing that had we asked for the 3rd entrée to be redone, Im sure they would have gladly done so, but a lot of food would have been wasted. Our server was friendly and attentive and didnt rush us. Highly recommend this long-time Albany restaurant landmark.
