Best place to eat in Alamosa

One of my fav spots for quality chinese food. This location is absolutely outstanding. I look forward to a return trip. It has an awesome feel to it. Atmosphere is like a restaurant in Fort Worth I loved.

As most restaurants that bring us Asian Style Cuisine (no offense, intended, or otherwise implied) the Hunan Chinese Restaurant here in Alamosa, Colorado can be hit or miss.Most noticably, the difference in quality of both the service and the menu from lunch to dinner is a definite detraction from this dining choice in town. Of which there are not many.The average patron can not possibly predict which time of which day will assure the upper levels of quality we all desire. This is Not Good.But when the Human Chinese Restaurant is in top form, it is rather excellent; thus hard to beat, here in our Alamosa.

I was there about two weeks ago and Dovanna was our waitress she was kind friendly always helpful. We watched her when she was not busy and she was always cleaning and keeping busy. The food was great. Me and my family cant wait to go back.

I will give them four stars as I ordered two items on the menu. I ordered shrimps rice noodles, it was outstanding, shrimps were fresh, rice noodles cooked to perfection, and a lot of veggies mixed together. I am from Hong kong, I know what is a good rice noodles dish should be. My husband ordered spicy eggplant, another good tasty food. They used the authentic Chinese spicy sauce on the eggplant. In addition, they gave us the lee kam kee brand name Chinese soy sauce package. I havent seen any Chinese restaurants would offer such an authentic touch. This is the second best Chinese restaurant I have ever eaten in America so far. I didnt expect there is a good Chinese food in the middle of nowhere in colorado.

Really fun Chinese restaurant! I love taking my kids for a special treat. The people are always so kind, and the food is very consistently good.

Ordered pu pu platter and suppose to come with 2 of each listing and were out of skewers and ribs.so we asked for substitutes and got nothing more per the chefs. How wrong. The waitress paid for their mistake. So we paid her for their mistake.

Four of us ate there last night. My husband ate a Tofu dish and got very sick. I hope he will be better tomorrow.

Worst chinese food Ive ever had. service was very pushy and wouldnt stop checking on us when we needed more time on the menu. i got the chow mein. chow mein should have noodles in it. the only noodles were crispy wonton noodles that had become soggy. meat tasted spoiled. everything was slimy. hot and sour soup tasted extremely acidic and tasted like acid reflux. the smell was nauseating and made me uncomfortable the whole time. hostess didn’t wear a mask. poor service. poor food. poor sanitation. if i could give it 0 stars i would.

It was really good. Wait staff was friendly. Food was great. The sushi bar was not available so it was a bit disappointing however still delicious.

Tried calling for over 40 minutes to only get a busy line. Then at 8:56 they finally answer the phone. The hostess tells me that they stop making sushi at 8 and I asked her why the phone line was busy and she said someone was probably on it like she didnt have a clue, thats her job is to use the phone. .. Pathetic. so I guess if youre hungry for a busy line and incompetent service Hunan is the place for you.

The pad thai hurt my soul. It had a really strange tasting spice on it. Also the music made it feel like I was in the waiting room at the dentists.

I love this place hands down the best place for Chinese food this side of the Mississippi.

Decent sushi, not a fan of the buffet though. But they need a multi line phone!!! I called for a half hour yesterday and barely got through. This has happened to my husband in the past as well.

Love the sushi. Have ordered numerous times take out, always over $100. Tonight was told they dont do take out sushi anymore. An empty restaurant and they dont want a $100+ order. Drove all the way from Monte. May be time to master sushi making myself. Dont know if well be back.

I keep going back because my experience was great one time, but sadly, the other dozen meals have been misordered, cold, or otherwise sub par. The service staff does not impress me at all. Today I was blamed. Was told that I ordered the wrong thing, but I most certainly did not. I havent had the lunch buffet, but my a la carte meals havent been good..except for that one time...

Food is very good. Prices reasonable for food & drinks! Dinner for 4, appetizers, & 3 very tasty long island teas- around $60!! Took a while to get our food.. but worth the wait!!

Ive eaten here at least five times. 4 out of the 5 times my Sesame tofu came hot, extremely crispy and with plenty of broccoli and a light sweet, sour sesame sauce. Perfection of Chinese food at 7400 feet.Yesterday I must have gotten the fill in chef. The order was done under 10 minutes ( which is unusual, the good chef takes a leas 15-20). When I got back home I realized it was all shoved into a box container, tofu was SOGGY and tasted absolutely HORRIBLE. There were a total of 6 pieces of broccoli. Yes I counted them.I dont waste food, but I tossed it out, wouldnt even feed it to the chickens.My advice go at the dinner hour.Would have given them a 4, but consistency in dinning is HUGE for me.

Update-(post covid) the service was fast! I was so so so happy that they were able to reopen. Hunan has been the meals of pampering and celebrating for my family. They even made my sauce fresh. It is worth all the wait.Its been a long time in between my visits. THEY HAVE STEPPED IT UP and I cant wait to go back and try something new after all they have over a hundred num nums to choose from.

Very yummy food. Ask for the Senior Discount. We enjoyed the salad bar, dessert bar, and lots of entrees on the buffet.

Some of the food was under the warmers a bit to long, some of the food was dry. The soup, salad and deserts were good.

Our take our was done quick. Once home I realized my sesame chicken was over cooked, but thats not the bad part. My fried rice had a small piece of egg shell mixed in. Not a good feeling in your mouth. The rest of my order was good.

I am very upset, i waited 30 min after calling an hour before i was picking it up. But even worse i drove 30 min home to find that i did not get what i ordered. I ordered shrimp egg foo young and got some vegetarian something. I hope the owner will reach out to make it right. I have photos.

The sushi here is great! I dont eat the regular food here because it lacks in quality and freshness. But the sushi is the reason to come to Hunans they have a large variety to choose from. I was never really into sushi but this place has changed my mind! I have came many times for the sushi and plan to come many more times. Service is always great and the staff and owners are very friendly.
